My NEWKIRK line resided in Ulster Co., NY for many generations. They originally came to New York from Holland in 1659. My NEWKIRK line also includes a number of the large families of Ulster County, including TenEYCK, BRODHEAD, and DuBOIS.
Harriet NEWKIRK, daughter of Benjamin Brodhead NEWKIRK and Kerenhappauch FINCH, was b. 1808 in NY. She m. Edwin DOWNER, son of Samuel DOWNER, Jr. and Sarah ROBINSON.
